Surgical Services

The surgery suite at Gasow Veterinary Hospital is designed to accommodate surgical procedures from spays and neuters to more complicated soft-tissue and emergency surgeries. Our hospital is particularly equipped to perform most advanced orthopedic procedures, including fracture repair, joint surgery, and ligament repair. Prior to surgery, each patient receives a thorough physical examination. Blood tests may be performed to identify any existing medical conditions. We routinely use equipment to measure oxygen and carbon dioxide concentration in the blood with a pulse oximeter. Temperature is also monitored and our patients are kept warm using a thermal warming device. This helps to provide a faster and more comfortable recovery.

We administer an anesthetic protocol that is tailored to your pet's individual needs. Our veterinarians are assisted by certified veterinary technicians and assistants who have decades of experience and receive continuing education on a regular basis. Working alongside the surgeons, they keep a very close watch on our patients and the monitoring equipment.
Our surgical department handles our own clients' cases and welcomes referrals from neighboring veterinary hospitals.
Dental Procedures
Your pet's teeth and mouth are prone to disease and decay. A bad tooth or infected gums can cause lack of appetite and painful infection, which can lead to a compromised immune system, allowing for secondary, more serious infections. All pets undergoing dental procedures are treated with the same care as pets undergoing general anesthetic surgery.
When making an appointment for surgeries and dental procedures, a technician will inform you of any pre-operative and post-operative requirements.
